LAST NEWSLETTER OF THE YEAR!

** Our lettuce is almost ready to harvest and our SALAD PARTY will take place on Thursday! Your child will be coming home with a slip of paper saying what salad item they have signed up to bring in. Please have the item in by THURSDAY AM! Thanks!

**This will be the LAST newsletter of the year! The year has really flown by and we will really miss this GREAT group of kids. Thank you so much for all your support throughout the year. We hope everyone has a fun, relaxing, and safe vacation! Don’t forget to read over the summer!

Language Arts
       Reading- All book clubs have finished reading their books, filling out their comprehension and vocabulary packets, and everyone took the AR test. This test was taken for a Reading grade, please see your child’s AR Report. I am also taking a grade on each child meeting their personal AR goal by Wednesday AND the overall AR test average. We will begin the week by playing our Book Club board games that we created. Later in the week, we will read several books by Chris Van Allsburg. He likes to blend reality, fantasy, and imagination into his picture books. They are very thought-provoking!
      Writing/Grammar- We will use our writing time to write shape and clerihew poetry. Shape poetry is in the shape of the subject of the poem. For example, a poem about the sun would be in the shape of the sun. Clerihew poems are funny poems about a real person.
        Spelling- NO LIST THIS WEEK!!

             Math
This week we will continue to review decimals and expressions with variables. All corrections are due by Wednesday!!!!

Social Studies
We will be finishing up our famous Ohioan posters and sharing them. We will then be working on some citizenship skills to finish up the year!

Science
Science tests will be coming home today. Most students scored very well and I could tell they studied. This test grade will be doubled in the grade book. It is time to harvest our lettuce and celebrate with a SALAD PARTY! Your child will come home today with a half-slip of paper telling what they need to bring into school by Thursday as a donation to our party. I will supply bowls and forks. We will continue to monitor our flower garden, and we will read a book called What About Ladybugs? which teaches us about the interdependence of plants and animals in a garden.
