Algebra
Student Study Tips
**Please don’t wait until
the night before a test or quiz to try these tips! The tips should be incorporated into a daily
study routine in addition to normal homework assignments. Algebra is an advanced class for high school
credit. It is each advanced student’s
responsibility to put in the time and effort to perform at an advanced level
and maintain an A or B average.
1.
Study all notes/lessons
again at home. Have a family member or friend (or yourself)
quiz you on the material or have you explain the steps/algebra process until
you have it memorized.
1.
Using
pencil & paper, read the beginning of each lesson
example and see if you can solve it the same way we did in class without
looking at the solution. If you can’t, you
need to practice the lesson again!
2.
Extra Practice: Go to the chapter/section
we are working on in class. Practice odd
numbered problems from the textbook. You
or a family member can look up the solution in the back of the book to see if
you are getting the problems correct.
3.
Practice lessons &
games on our class website, also visit ‘classzone.com’,
our textbook website for powerpoints, practice, and games.
4.
Call a classmate for help.
5.
Call Mrs. D for homework
help. (876-4567)
6.
Meet with classmates in
your neighborhood or at the library to have study sessions.
7.
If
completing all of the methods above still isn’t enough, have your parents
contact the guidance department at YMS for a list of tutors that can help you
one on one after school.
