Classroom Computer Center Project
As principal of the Greenview Elementary School, I am pleased to announce that our school has been awarded a $100,000 Educational Technology grant from the Department of Education. With this money, we are to integrate the use of technology into the classroom. When our Technology Committee met last year to discuss this grant, we decided that creating computer centers in classrooms would provide the greatest impact on our students. Towards this end, I am asking that all interested teachers apply for a portion of this money to create a computer center in their classroom.
Interested teachers should submit: 1) a one page written proposal stating how you would use computer technology in your classroom, 2) a drawing of how you would arrange your room to fit this computer center, and 3) a budget (spreadsheet) indicating what you would buy and how much it will cost. Proposals should not exceed $6,000 including all hardware, software and furniture. Be creative and realistic. Proposals will be evaluated and ranked by the principal, the computer teacher and the Technology Coordinator for our district.
Evaluating Proposals
Proposals should:
- Be based on sound educational goals that enhance the standardized curriculum
- Be creative yet make realistic use of computer technology
- Be within budget guidelines
- Demonstrate teacher’s understanding of technology and its educational implications for classroom instruction.
Completed proposals due by July 11, 2002.
