This is the start of a new year and a new plan for the Art Classes.
This year all classes will develop an Art Journal. The journal will be comprised of all the artwork from the current class and will have a decorative binding.
The emphasis of this year's classes is the American Experience in Art . The students will learn about the wonderful artists America has to offer, past and present. The students will use their background in art language to identify and create artwork.
An education in the arts benefits society because students of the arts disciplines gain powerful tools for:
• understanding human experiences, both past and present;
• teamwork and collaboration;
• making decisions creatively when no prescribed answers exist;
• learning to adapt to and respect others' (diverse) ways of thinking, working, and expressing themselves;
• learning problem recognition and problem solving, involving expressive, analytical, and developmental tools to every human situation;
• understanding the influence of the arts and their power to create and reflect cultures, the impact of design on our daily life and in
• communicating effectively.
Materials for Art 1, 2, 3 and 4..............
A 3 ring binder.....2 inches ( need not to be new)
A soft pencil pouch that attaches to a 3 ring binder
A folder with 2 pockets that attaches to a 3 ring binder
12 or more pencils with erasers (I would prefer only 1 or 2 mechanical, if any)
3 ultra fine black pens
1 black sharpie
2 glue sticks
i roll of masking tape
1 pair of scissors( large to fit the student's hand)
These supplies will be kept in the classroom so the student will have them everyday. If there is a problem, do not drop the class.....we can work it out. Materials are due Wednesday August 21,2013....this is a graded assignment.
