Course Description:
The emphasis in this class will be upon individual remediation of academic skills as required and group collaboration in meeting the Standards of Learning expectation for this course. The course focus will be upon critical thinking applicable to various literary genres, vocabulary development, accelerated reading comprehension, study skills, research and use of the writing process in both essay and research formats.
Student Expectations:
• Regular class attendance is required.
• Notebooks, paper and pencils are essential.
• All assigned work must be completed on time or made-up.
• Courtesy and respect for others is expected.
• Active class participation is mandatory.
Grading Policy: Grades are assigned by a combination of effort, improvement and participation.
