Hello and Welcome!
Here are some of the things we will be covering during the week of January 7-11 in our class...
SPELLING
We will work with the words in Unit 19.
Homework: Monday:Write words in ABC order.
Dictation Test on Thursday and Word Test on Friday.
LANGUAGE
We will use Multisensory Grammar as we explore adverbs this week. We will also focus on the parts of a paragraph.
READING
"The Terrible EEEK" will be the story for this week. The students will use the vocabulary from the story to describe the illustrations in the story. We will also discuss sequencing as an important skill in reading.
Homework:
MATH
The students have been doing a great job with memorizing their multiplication facts, keep up the great work! Flashcards will be sent home on Monday for the 3's, study every night. This week we will also focus on drawing a picture to help us solve problems.
Homework:
Study 3 times tables; a quiz will be given Friday, along with a review of other facts previously introduced.
SCIENCE
Forces and motion will be our topic for the next few weeks in science. This week we will take a look at the vocabulary used in this unit as well as some examples of forces and motion.
NOTES
Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holidays with your child. I'm excited to have a fresh start with the students and can't wait to jump into the rest of the year! We will be writing everything in cursive from now on, so please encourage your child to practice letters he or she may have trouble writing. Things will start to move a little faster now, so please help your child study and stay organized. It's going to be a great 2002!
