Our lost and found is out of control!  If your child is missing a jacket, sweatshirt, glove, or any other item, please come by to see if it's in our stash.  We have taken the students by the items several times but MANY things have still not been claimed.  We are donating all leftover items to charity on April 24th.

In writing this nine weeks we will focus on PERSUASIVE WRITING.
After reading the book Can I have an Iguana?  the class wrote persuasive letters to YOU asking for a pet that they have always wanted....I will say....they are pretty amusing!  These will be displayed in the hallway for a couple of weeks.
The students are publishing another persuasive writing this week telling us why they think it is important for you  to keep the Earth clean.
They will begin their own list of things they can write about to persuade.

Science:

This week we will continue our study of the Earth, moon, and sun.
The students began research brochures on Friday. They will take information from their notes taken last week from watching several different videos.  They will also use our fact charts and information from the internet.  The students will work in pairs to complete this task.

-BOOK IT READING:    The students will be rewarded with pizza coupons for reaching our class monthly goal of 7 books.  Encourage your child to bring home thier library books to read to you!!!  Ask them questions about what they should read.  My daughters fourth grade teacher reminded me last year how important it was to still listen to your child read at home!  It takes 10 minutes a night and what a great time to turn off the TV and spend with your child!

-Parents: make sure that you are checking your child's AR scores and records online.  Some students are not reading for comprehension, but for speed just so they can take a test.  Some are reading books too hard for them and others are reading books that are too easy.  Each student know his or her reading level  Please encourage your child to bring home their library books so that you can monitor their books and what they are testing or not testing on.

*Homework folders will come home on TUESDAY, BUT will not be due until FRIDAY!
(blue folder for boys and purple folder for girls)

NO HOMEWORK THIS WEEK! (April 27)
