Today we perform a "link check" on two web sites.  To refresh your memory, a link check tells you which web sites linked their pages to the site you choose.

To do link check:

Step 1: go to the search engine listed below.

Step 2: type "link:" followed by the address you wish to check.  For example, if you wanted to check the sites that linked to "http://www.bet.com", you would type "link:http://www.bet.com" and click the search button.

Step 3: Evaluate your results.  Now that you know what sites linked to the web site you are investigating, make a judgement as to the quality of information there.

Below there are two web sites dealing with our old friend, Christopher Columbus.  You have a report and want to know which site has the best information.  First, open the two web sites below and visually look at them. Then, do a link check on these two sites and see which one has the most ligitimate information:
