Conflict Resolution Quest
Welcome to Kahler's Conflict Resolution Website!

You will be on a WebQuest for the next few days!  Have Fun!!! - Mrs. Orr

INTRODUCTION

As middle school students you face many conflicts everyday.  Maybe someone teases you repeatedly.  Perhaps a friend of yours is going through a family crisis and can't seem to focus on school.  For you to deal with these kinds of problems, it is essential that you have effective tools and skills.

As you finish your Conflict Resolution class you have hopefully gained some of those needful skills.  Now it is time to put them to work!

Carefully follow the directions and procedures to this Webquest - and try to have some fun!

THE TASK

You and your team members form a group of writers, producers and actors for a local TV Station.  The station is running a series called "Conflicts in Our Schools" starting next week.  It your team's job to develop Public Service Announcements (PSA's)which will run during the programming.  The target audience of these PSA's will be middle school and high school students. Your PSA should be informative and persuasive. it should NOT be a simple skit or role play.  You MUST teach something (CR skills, etc.).

Your PSA can take any of the following forms: newscast, docudrama, play, puppet show, interview, or testimonial(everything must be school appropriate). See your teacher if you would like to try some other method of presentation.

Below is a list of issues you might explore during you PSA:
(Check with your teacher if you would like one not listed here.)
Bullying
School Safety
Cliques
School Violence

ROLES ( The roles will overlap - you might have 2 or 3 roles.)

Researcher( everyone): EVERYONE will be a researcher.  Everyone must surf the sites I've made available and turn in notes as indicated below.

Writers (2): You will be responsible for writing down the script.  Your partners are to help you with what to say.  You are also responsible for making sure everyone has a copy of the script.  You will turn in a rough draft to Mrs. Orr by May 29th and a final copy on presentation day.

Prop Designers (2): You will be responsible for any artwork or props that the group decides to use.  You will need to make sure that art supplies are available and that everyone is helping.  You may also ask your partners to bring in various items.

Director(1): You will oversee all the roles.  Make sure that everyone is doing their part.  You will also direct the PSA as far as final decisions are concerned.  You are to help the others in their roles as needed. You are responsible for making sure the writer turns in a final copy of the script to Mrs. Orr.

Everyone:
Everyone in the group will be considered an "actor" on presentation day.  You are to act out your parts as if you were on television.
