Course Description
Cosmetology 1 is a class geared for 9th and 10th graders beginning instruction in Cosmetology. Reviews and Memory Retention will be followed along with the schedule.

Course Objectives
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the field of Cometology. The student who successfully completes this course will have basic entry-level knowledge and will be ready to enter Cosmetology II at the Neff Campus.
Instructional Philosophy
This course will consist of lecture, class discussion, demonstrations, and practice of skills. Students will work with partners much of the time. Assignments will require students to use mathematical, science, communication, and language art skills.
Grading Scale
Assessment will be based on scores achieved on written test, homework, projects, and daily grades. Daily grades will be given for attitude, performance of skills, productive use of class time, class participation, performing daily cleanup, and laboratory organization assignments. This course grading scale is 100-93 (A), 92-85 (B), 84-77 (C), 76-70 (D), below 70 (F).
Make-Up Assignments
Students will be required to make up any work missed due to absences in order to receive a passing grade for the day or days missed. It is the responsibility of the student to request make-up assignments. Ample opportunity will be given to turn in the makeup assignment. Make-up work not done by the scheduled date will result in a “0” for the day or days absent.
