Mrs. Lynn Campbell and I welcome students and parents to Marion Middle School!

As Counselors, our primary roles are to assist students with personal and social problems, academic concerns, and career development during their middle school years. We meet with students individually, in small groups, and in classrooms.

We also welcome contacts with parents. Parents are encouraged to call or email us with your concerns, or contact one of us for an appointment.

STUDENTS NEW TO THE MARION MIDDLE SCHOOL ZONE: Parents should make an appointment to meet with a counselor to register your child. Please bring copies of the student's immunization records, birth certificate, social security card, and contact information for the previous school.

CAREER ACTIVITIES FOR 6th, 7th, AND 8TH GRADERS:

During the school year the MMS Counselors will conduct online career activities using VIRGINIA CAREER VIEW with the 6th grade. The 7th grade students will be introduced to the online KUDER CAREER SYSTEM.

During the first week of December the 8th graders will establish and begin to use KUDER CAREER PORTFOLIO accounts using Virginia's online CAREER PLANNING SYSTEM. They will investigate CAREER CLUSTERS and PATHWAYS to determine their current career interests.

In mid-December the 8th graders are scheduled to hear a presentation about the programs available at the Smyth Career and Technology Center. They will also visit the SCTC to see the programs in action.

All these career activities will provide useful information to help the 8th graders plan their program of studies for high school and beyond.
