The story Dear Mr. Henshaw was very interesting. If you like writing you’ll want to read this book. Also, if you like books about famous people this book is just right. It won the Newbery Award too. That’s why I read it. The book was by Beverly Cleary. In the story, a boy named Leigh likes to write alot and he always either writes to Mr. Henshaw or his journal. Mr. Henshaw is an author who writes books. At first Leigh has no friends because he’s poor and nobody likes him. Someone steals out of his lunch box, so he makes a burglar alarm. Everyone was impressed so they became his friends. Something amazing happens at the end but you have to read the book to find out what it is.

He Never Stops Running
Have you ever heard of anyone who never stops running? If you read the book Maniac Magee you will. I've read this book before. I got to the point that I could not put the book down. It was a pretty funny book because Maniac didn't care what he did even if it meant he went to the East side (only black people stayed there and he was white). Ever time I read, I could see what was happening because the details were clear. Every time Maniac went to a new place the story got funnier. In the beginning, his parents died, and he went to his aunt's house. After he ran away from his aunt's house, the adventure began. I think this was a great book that really deserved the Newbery Award.

I think the book The Great Gilly Hopkins deserves the Newbery Award. The book tells how hard life is when you are an orphan. It made me realize how good I have it to be with my real parents and how lucky I am. I like this book because it's about a girl that acts tough to survive in life. I also don't like the girl because of the sneaky things she did to others. I think she acts that way because she doesn't want to be bothered. She is mad that she is not with her mother. I also think she acts that way because of what her parents did to her. I think this is a good book for young people to read. So, if you're ever in a library looking for a good book, look for The Great Gilly Hopkins.

If you are 10 years old you will like the book that I read. The book's title is Call It Courage. If you read it you will really like it! The book is about an indian boy who is afraid of the water but one day he stole a canoe. The end is my most favorite part of the book. If you like dogs you will like the dog in the story. The book also won a Newbery Award in 1940. The rest is for you to find out!!
