CPSE PRETEST
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE STARTING ON THE CPSE PRETEST!
General Information: The CPSE Pretest consists of 50 items covering the four CPSE domains (Crisis Assessment and Intervention, Clinical Assessment and Evaluation, Treatment Interventions, Legal and Ethical Standards). The CPSE Pretest is designed to assess your baseline level of performance, and to give you a strong idea of both the level/depth of content knowledge necessary as well as the test-taking skills needed to adequately prepare for the CPSE. A score of 35/50 is a strong starting score. We encourage you to use this Pretest both as an assessment and study tool.
You will be able to take the CPSE Pretest three times: Study Mode, Retake Mode, and Test Mode. You will be able to review your results as often as you like.
STUDY MODE: It is strongly recommended the first time you take the CPSE Pretest, you complete the test in Study Mode. In Study Mode, the CPSE Pretest is broken into two parts (30 test questions in Part 1 and 20 questions in Part 2).
**Part 1 covers Clinical Issues and includes the domains of Crisis Assessment and Intervention, Clinical Assessment and Evaluation, and Treatment Interventions.
**Part 2 covers Legal and Ethical Standards.
The test software will prompt you to review the rationale for each question immediately after completing the question; you should take the time to thoroughly study the rationale. On average it should take about 1 hour to complete and study EACH part in Study Mode. Students who rush to complete the test are at a tremendous disadvantage in terms of both learning the content and developing test-taking skills.
RETAKE MODE: We recommend you wait to take the CPSE Pretest in Retake Mode for about 1 - 2 weeks after completing the CPSE Pretest in Study Mode. In Retake Mode, all 50 items are presented. The test software will again prompt you to review the rationale for each question immediately after completing the question. A question missed in Retake Mode represents a personal red flag, a question you may miss on the actual exam unless you take some action! Allow about 1.5 hours to complete the CPSE Pretest in Retake Mode. It is expected that you will miss fewer than half as many items in Retake Mode as you missed in Study Mode.
TEST MODE: You should complete the test in Test Mode about 1 - 2 weeks after Retake Mode. In Test Mode, all 50 test items are presented, and you must complete all items before you will have the opportunity to review the rationales. Allow 1 hour to complete the items in Test Mode. In is expected that you should score at least 48/50 or 95% in Test Mode.
All of your test results (test scores as well as test items, answers you selected, correct answers, detailed rationales) are stored and can be reviewed by either entering www.quia.com/web into your Internet browser, or by clicking the Useful link below: 'Review Tests.' Then click 'Student Zone,' enter your Username and Password. Click 'View' to review results.
