PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE STARTING ON THE CPSE TEST A! You will be able to take CPSE Test A three times. You will be able to review your results as often as you like. CPSE Test A consists of 100 items covering the four CPSE domains (Crisis Assessment and Intervention, Clinical Assessment and Evaluation, Treatment Interventions, Legal and Ethical Standards). Ideally, Test A should be taken for the first time AFTER completing the CPSE Pretest in both Study Mode and Retake Mode, and after completing the Workshop Questions in both Workshop Mode and Retake Mode (and having reviewed the audio recording and Powerpoint Handouts of the CPSE Workshop). Candidates taking CPSE Test A for the first time should target a score of at least 80/100. It is strongly recommended the first time you take CPSE Test A, you complete the test in Study Mode. In Study Mode, CPSE Test A is broken into four parts (25 questions in each part). The test software will prompt you to review the rationale for each question immediately after completing the question. After you complete each question you should take the time to thoroughly review and study the rationale. On average it should take about 1.5 hours to complete and study EACH part in Study Mode. Students who rush to complete the test are at a tremendous disadvantage in terms of both learning the content and developing test-taking skills. We recommend you wait to take CPSE Test A in Retake Mode for about 1 - 2 weeks after completing CPSE Test A in Study Mode. In Retake Mode, all 100 items are presented. The test software will again prompt you to review the rationale for each question immediately after completing the question. A question missed in Retake Mode represents a personal red flag, a question you may miss on the actual exam unless you take some action! Allow 3 - 4 hours to complete CPSE Test A in Retake Mode. It is expected that you will miss fewer than half as many items in Retake Mode as you missed in Study Mode. You should complete the test in Test Mode about 1 - 2 weeks after Retake Mode. In Test Mode, all 100 test items are presented, and you must complete all items before you will have the opportunity to review the rationales. Allow 3 - 4 hours to complete the items in Test Mode. In is expected that you should score at least 95/100 in Test Mode. All of your test results (test scores as well as test items, answers you selected, correct answers, detailed rationales) are stored and can be reviewed at quia.com by either entering www.quia.com/web into your Internet browser, or by clicking the link below: 'Review Tests.' Then click 'Student Zone,' enter your Username and Password, and click 'results.' The recommended study schedule and timing for taking the CPSE tests as well as guidelines for expected progress can be accessed at the link below: 'CPSE Study Schedule and Expected Progress.' IMPORTANT NOTE!! The on-line program has been specifically designed to optimize CPSE study: to gradually build stamina, endurance, and pacing. Thus, once a test (or test part in Study Mode) is accessed it must be completed and scored in one sitting. If you close out a test before you have completed it (or lose internet connection), you will temporarily be denied access to that test section ONLY. You will need to e-mail the office (info@psychprep.com), specify the test section you are having problems with, and we will give you fresh access to that test or test part (within a few minutes during normal business hours, or next business morning if after hours). Your access to all remaining tests (or test parts in Study Mode or Retake Mode) is not interrupted. Good luck!
