Welcome to our page on the Media Class Author Study!  This project will be due near the end of the second grading period.  There are links included to help you research your author.

Students have been given a list of over 100 authors from which to choose.  They must read at least three books by this author (and may earn extra credit by reading more than three from this author). Most authors have several accelerated reader titles in the Creston Media Center. Students may earn extra credit by passing the AR tests for any books they read in connection with this assignment.

Some of the things that will be included in this study:
*brief biography of the author
*how has his/her life affected the writing
*read at LEAST three books by this author.  Compare the three works.  How are they alike/different?  Which did you like best?  Why?
*How is this author like you?  Different from you?
*a list of works by this author (includes books, poems, short stories, plays, etc.; not every author has written just books)
*awards won by this author
*a bibliography (print and net) of all sources used
*a reading log tracking what you read, when, and how many pages

The format for the study may include, but is not limited to:
*report
*PowerPoint
*poster
*brochure
*video
*webpage

You need to be sure that all materials in your project are in your own words; do not just print materials from the internet.  The bibliography MUST be included.

IF YOU ARE CREATING A POWER POINT:  Guidelines
You should have approximately 12 slides. They do not have to be in this order, or by these topics, but I've had many students ask me for suggestions on how to do this!
1.  Author's name, your name, books you read, + extra info.
2-4  Brief biography of the author (may go beyond 3 slides)
5. Connection between author's life and writings
6. Description of first book you read
7. Description of second book you read
8. Description of the third book you read
9. Comparison of the three books (see above)
10.  Ways the author is like/different from you
11. Works (includes books, short stories, poems, etc.)
12. Awards
13.  Bibliography:  Include ALL print AND electronic sources that you use.  It would be a good idea to start a document with any URL's that you use and add as you go.
14.  Further slides are up to you.
