All G8 students at CRMS will this year be taking the National Spanish Exam during the second week of April.
The exam is a two part test and you can take up to 40 mins for each part, although most people do not need that much time.
The first part is called the Achievement Section. This is typically harder for our students and focuses on grammar and vocabulary. The test is structured such that it is almost impossible to earn a 100% so some of the questions will be hard.
The second part is called the Proficiency Section. CRMS students usually do well on this as it assesses listening and reading comprehension, which we work on a lot here at CRMS.
It will be administered in the computer lab during the following classes:
Monday April 6th Spanish II Achievement
Tuesday April 7th Spanish I Achievement
Wednesday April 8th Spanish II Proficiency
Thursday April 9th Spanish I Proficiency
Friday April 10th - MAKE UP
The NSE will count towards your class grade. However, I will weight it as only 1/2 a test grade and will scale the results such that the average grade for SPA 1 and SPA 2 is an 85%. In additional, I will be giving awards for the top CRMS scorer, the top two Spanish II scores, and the top 2 Spanish I scores. If you do really well, you might also receive state or national recognition.
Some of the proficiency exam is oral so you need to listen to passages and or conversations in Spanish so please bring iPod headphones on exam day. I also have a bunch as well if we need extra.
To practice, go to the first two "Useful Links" at the bottom to go directly to official practice materials from NSE. You all will be taking the "Level 1" Exams.
On the game links below, you can also practice key vocabulary and grammar that will likely be on the National Spanish Exam.
