MONDAY-Read Chapter 8.  Write a one page journal entry over the book so far, 1/2 summary and 1/2 your thoughts on what has happened.  Honors, Read Ch. 9 when done.

APRIL 16-20

MONDAY-  1/2 PAGES-POINTS DUE, All test prep work due in today.  Begin "The Outsiders"

TUESDAY-The Outsiders, read through middle of chapter 2, set up facebook worksheet page for Ponyboy.  Use status posts to list the main events of the story as we read it.  Have friends comment to add information.  Use the things you find out about Ponyboy to fill out the information on the right hand side of the page.  Make ads for businesses mentioned and things that relate to the story.  You must have at least one status for each chapter.

JANUARY 30-FEBRUARY 3

MONDAY-Solve Sherlock Holmes mysteries-write answers in notebook.  Take AR tests in library today only since I am gone.  Honors-turn in pages tomorrow.

TUESDAY-Computer Lab-Go to the link That says The Best Underground Railroad and Slavery website.  Look at the left column .  Select following the footsteps and do the interactive journey.  Look at the other items in the left column.  You may make the quilt square for bonus. 

WEDNESDAY-Computer Lab.  Honors and 3rd hr.  Research these topics:  Slavery in Africa, The Middle Passage, Concitions on Slave Ships, Slave Auctions, Legal rights of Slaves, Cape Coast Castle and the door/gate of no return.  5th and 8th -go to the site we used yesterday:  Do questions 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 on the first link in the left column.  Browse through the other links on my page for research.

MONDAY-SSR/Review and evaluate detective's log.  Form a hypothesis regarding the murder of Victor Savage.  Give the murderer's name, motivation, and how they accomplished the crime.  Turn in your predictions tomorrow.

TUESDAY-Read the play "The Dying Detective"  Determine who killed Victor Savage and see if you were right!

WEDNESDAY-SSR/Watch the end of the video.  Compare and contrast with the play.  Begin working on Fact, Opinion, and Reasoned Judgment page.  Weigh each statement and determine which category the information would fit in.  Use context to identify word meanings from the play.  Make a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the play and the movie.

THURSDAY-  Finish and grade Fact,Opinion, and RJ wksht.  Test  tomorrow!

FRIDAY-Watch The Dying Detective.  Sort possible clues into fact, opinion, reasoned judgement, and misc. columns in your detective notebook.  List possible suspects.  Make you predictions as to the murderer and method of murder.

DECEMBER 12-16

MONDAY-Grade sequence wheel; use corrected sequence wheel to put events in a chronological timeline of Scrooge's life.  Note that the sequence of events in the story is not in time order.  The sequence is the order it happens in the book: not necessarily how it happens in life.  Sometimes they are both in time order; it varies.
TUESDAY-Grade timeline; begin viewing A Christmas Carol;  compare and contrast the film with the play.  1.List 5 things that were left out of the play that are in the film.  2. Make a plot map for the film; list at least five events in the exposition; list 8 or more in the rising action; identify the climax and explain why it is the turning point; list 4 things in the falling action; explain what the resolution is.  Work on preparing for essay test questions!  (See at bottom of assignment list)

2. How do Grover, Percy and Annabeth end up at the pit of Tartarus?
3. Why was Percy’s backpack getting heavy?
4. What terrible choice faces Percy when he decides to use the pearls? Would you have made the same choice he does? Why or why not?

Ch. 20

1. Ares says the best kind of war is when relatives fight each. Why would this be the most vicious kind of fight?
2. Why does Percy begin to suspect that Ares wasn’t acting alone – that he was taking orders from someone?
3. Which failures does Ares point to when he says Percy “doesn’t have what it takes”? Is this a fair criticism? Why or why not?

Read pg 72-73.  Make a Newspaper article describing a time when you were brave (pg. 72).  Do the vocabulary in context exercise at the bottom of pg, 73.  Circle the context clues in the sentence and write a synonym for the word.  Use context; do not use dictionary.

Pages 25-29  Finish IDing plot elements in excerpts.  Read the Dinner Party, pg 28-29.  Do close reading q's in complete sent.  Make a plot map (plot diagram) for the story.  Us the info on pg. 26 to be sure you don't leave anything out.
