Welcome.
This year The Dragon Tribune was voted Most Outstanding High School Newspaper in the Country by American Scholastic Press Association. Also, our school is a Charter Member of Quill and Scroll, an international honorary scholastic journalism society.
But these wonderful awards are simply recognition for past accomplishment. In order to sustain this reputation for excellence in journalism, this year must be a year of memorable learning and fun. Every year our staff attempts to reflect the changing attitudes and interests of the student body with interesting stories, photos and illustrations.
This class is unlike any other offered in the school. What you must bring to this class is a curious mind, a willing spirit, a committed work ethic and an understanding of deadlines. Know there is help for you at each step as you learn story fundamentals, interviewing skills and software.
All I ask is that you ask questions when you don't understand and remain coachable. In exchange, you will gain experience in writing and being part of a team committed to producing quality, a feeling of real accomplishment and many, many friends.
