    Pre-Algebra at TLS

This page is for students who are in my Pre-Algebra class and their parents. Please use this page to check out what is happening in math class.

Math always builds on previous knowledge! Many of the concepts we discuss and learn about will be familiar because you have already learned the basics. Pre-Algebra will take these same concepts to a higher level.

For the most part we begin each class period with a quick check of the previous day's assignment, then go on to discuss the new lesson, do some practice problems, ask questions, and have some time to get started on the new assignment. Normally I assign the entire problem set (1-30) although I may make exceptions on some days. All assignments are due on the next class day! It is important that each assignment be completed on time and turned in when it is due! Late assignments mean lowered grades! We will have tests every week or two, and these will be worth 3 regular homework assignments.

I like math and I am here to help. If you are working on a problem set later in the day and you don't understand, you can come to my office during a free period, at lunch, or after school.

Wed. Feb. 15: Lesson 72 - Graphing Inequalities. Assign: Worksheet and Problem Set 72 - # 9 & 10 and pick 15 additional problems.

Thurs. Feb. 16: Review Worksheet.

Fri. Feb. 17: NO SCHOOL

Mon. Feb. 20: PRESIDENT'S DAY ~ NO SCHOOL

Tue. Feb. 21: Lesson 73 - Right Circular Cylinders. Assign: Worksheet 73A and Problem Set 73 - # 1-14.

Wed. Feb. 22: Lesson 73 cont'd. Assign: Worksheet 73B and Problem Set 73 - # 15-30.

Thurs. Feb. 23: Lesson 74 - Inserting Parentheses and Order of Addition. Assign: Problem Set 74 - # 1-30.

Fri. Feb. 24: Open Book Quiz on Lessons 63-74.

Mon. Feb. 27: Lesson 75 - Implied Ratios. Assign: Problem Set 75 - # 1-30.

IMPORTANT.......Remember the process is important in Algebra! Doing problems in systematic and orderly steps makes the algebraic process easier.....and you usually get more problems done correctly!
