February is BLACK HISTORY MONTH.  Especially in this month, we HIGHLIGHT and HONOR African Americans who have added something important to our country's history.

Shouldn't we recognize and discuss important African Americans every month? Yes! We should include learning about important African Americans, Asian Americans, Mideastern Americans, Native Americans, Latin Americans, and European Americans, men and women, at all times, but, the reality is, many Americans of non-European descent have been left out of our lessons and our textbooks over the years.  So, in February, we especially honor this group of Americans: African Americans.
