Miss Daly's Update June 13th:
The sixth grade class is solvinga mystery! They are working together to solve the Eleventh Hour Mystery of the stolen feast. They have been solving clues and examining the suspects in order to save Horace's birthday feast!
The Fifth grade class is having fun learning about space. We explored where stars are located in real space and from our view from Earth. We talked about ancient constellation myths and the history of astronomy. We are discussing planetary systems and the different celestial bodies in our own solar system as well as how they interact. We have been discussing the vast distances between solar systems in space and what looking at far distant galaxies can teach us about our own past. We will conclude the unit by learning about how we can explore space now and what scientists are working on for the future. The students will be creating thier own destination vacation in space pulling together what they learned about stars and planetary bodies to create a unique environment to attract tourists. They will also design a method of space travel to get thier customers to thier colony as part of an all-inclusive Space Destination Vacation.
The fourth graders are beginning their study of New York State Government and citizenship.
