                     Period # 2
Hi my name is Daniel Marino and I’m in South Korea this week for my vacation. My purpose is to relax and find out what is going on right now in South Korea. This state is right next to China and South of North Korea. This is a small state compared to china (or something big)?
In South Korea I found out that the major religions are Christianity with a whopping 30%, Buddhism 15% of people, and last but not least Shamanism 25%. Shamanism is good luck the people say, it makes all the evil spirits go away.

The government of South Korea is A Republic Government, where the people vote for their leaders. Their current leader is Kim Dae-Jung.

When I went to eat at a famous restaurant their major food is Rice, they always eat rice with their meals. They have lots of spicy foods; one of their other major foods is "KIMCH", a spicy pickled cabbage. They also use rice in "dduk" A pounded rice cake. If you had one meal you would have some kind of rice with soup. The soup would have, meat and vegetables in it and the rice would also be pounded into little cakes. South Koreans do not eat on the street [on the sidewalk] because it is bad luck.
There are lots of people in a small place. There are 47.5 million people in South Korea, with a growth rate of 0.9%There. Most of the people live in very big cities; 10 million people live in Seoul, there countries capital
In South Korea the major language I found was “Hangul”, it is in their text too. In some of the schools I traveled to they were teaching English to the South Korean children. Their alphabet contains 24 letters with 10 voules
. So far in my vacation time I have managed to find out some local words like [KIMCH’I] It is a spicy pickled cabbage that is in most of the soups. One of the other ones is another food that is [DduK]; it is a pounded rice cake that is one of their main dishes.
When I went to South Korea I just missed one of the biggest holidays, that is new years. This is a big time for giving gifts to your family and friends. You will also honor the dead and enjoy the large meals. The other one is Buddha’s birth; it is one of the biggest holidays they have in South Korea.
In South Korea there is a big art museum that is called “DEOKSUNGUNG” It is considered to be a monument in South Korea, This is a place that you have to pay to get into. There are also very big towers in Beijing; this is also a popular place to go.
When I was in South Korea their major transportation is city busses. They also use motorcycles to travel around from place to place. There were only a few cars, because of the limited space they have to move around. They manly use motorcycles because they are cheap and you can maneuver better.
It wasn’t that expensive for me to fly to South Korea, I went in the middle of the school year and came back at the end. It only cost$ 710.00 dollars to fly from San Diego and back. In South Korea there are Four major natural resources are silver, tungsten, gold and Iron, (This is good for this state because of its low income,). When I went to South Korea the “GNP” is  $7,670.00 U.S dollars. That is not that much money for the U.S but it is for the South Koreans.
When I went to South Korea I found there were three different kinds of money making jobs. One is making rice; rice is very hard to grow so most people buy it. Rice is about 12% of what people buy in South Korea. One of the other major jobs is dried fish; this is one of the major foods that they make. Dried fish is a huge part of the economy in South Korea, the fishier man have big boats that have big nets to catch fish fast. Last but not least is the hot pepper market; it is the biggest spice in South Korea. This is used to spice up your dinner.
In my days I have been here I have found out this is very different from America. They do everything different and strange. The people in South Korea don’t make that much money but they still work hard for it. I recommend when you go to South Korea you buy some of their food, it is so unique there because they have different kinds of food that taste so good. I really enjoyed staying in South Korea.
