Mrs. Bahr's News Week of June 1, 2009 Hello Parents. It is hard to believe that this school year is coming to a close! It seems that it has just flown by! Even though it is officially June, we still have some important school work left. We begin our End of the Year Unit test in reading this week, take our Unit 6 Vocabulary test, take the Star test, and have a Math test this week. Some students will be given the Rigby test also. We still have some grammar assessments to take, and the children are involved in one final writing project. (They will write about a collection.) Next week, we will begin some work on our scrapbooks. Behavior Chart I am now asking the students to put a little behavior chart in their own agenda. As we get closer to the end of the year, good behavior can tend to “fly out the window.” Please check the chart each day to see how your child is doing. Thanks for your help and support! We still have a lot to learn and I want our class to continue to be as productive as they have been for most of this year. Flat Stanley Project Our Flat Stanley dolls and journals continue to come in. We will have more time to read them soon. The class is so excited to share the journey of the little characters! Picnic Please return the slip indicating if you will be joining us for the class picnic. I will need to let the cafeteria know how many lunches they must prepare for us by this Wednesday. Thanks! Cameras We will take some pictures this week so that everyone may take their cameras home to have the film developed. Thanks! Reading I am still hoping all of our children will make our goal of 15 points for AR. I would love to give everyone a certificate at the end of the year! If an individual has worked very hard all year to reach the goal of one test per week and is very close to 15 points, I will consider them for a certificate also. Science We tested on Animals last Friday. This week we will listen to the animal reports that will become part of our classroom Animal Alphabet book. We will continue to enjoy some animal activities during the next couple of weeks and will also learn about magnets. We will not test or quiz on magnets, though.
