News from Buckley's Bunch

Welcome to our class web page! In the future look for the Buckley Press which will be a class newsletter written by the students about topics of study, events, achievements, and celebrations. We hope to publish by September 17th and then update bi-monthly.

This week has been busy learning classroom routines and getting to know each other. The students shared their unusual or unique talents with each other which was a great way to get to know about interests. We have fishermen, kite flyers, cheerleaders, coin collectors, stilt walkers, knitters, horsewomen, just to name a few!!

On Monday, September 8th the first Family Times will be sent home. This gives spelling and vocabulary words for the week. This is the weekly routine:

Monday: Family Times, spelling pre-test, spelling homework, vocabulary homework, begin story

Tuesday: Check spelling and vocabulary homework, Finish story, Answer Reader's Response

Wednesday: Check Reader's Response, Vocabulary review game, Selection Test

Thursday and Friday are Book Clubs

Book clubs are novels that the students read in small groups of five or less. The students have begun their first novel this week. They have an assignment sheet for their novel which is in their Language composition notebook. The first assignment on character is due on the 18th of September.
