Welcome to Mrs. Chapman’s Second Grade Classroom What an incredible year it has been! Your child has worked hard this year and has made tremendous progress and we want to keep those skills current. Practice math facts including regrouping. Reading throughout the summer is very important. Continue to practice writing skills. Keeping a summer journal is a wonderful way to do this. It has been a pleasure teaching your child this year. Have a terrific summer! **************************************************************************** Second grade is a year of great growth. This year, the children build upon the skills they have already developed, master new material and learn many new skills. My primary goal is to encourage creative thoughts; build enthusiasm for speaking, reading, and writing; and to promote self-direction and decision- making. We will work on developing study skills that will help them as they become more independent learners. Lots of activity-centered practice is an integral part of our classroom. Let’s work together to give your child the best education possible. The time and effort spent working at home is always reflected in a child's school performance. I am excited to serve as your child’s teacher this year. Always celebrate your child’s achievements, no matter how small they may seem. Each step in the right direction brings forth positive and continual learning.
