There are three work programs available though the Family and Consumer Science Department. All classes require the ability to drive and permission from parents to leave the school grounds. These courses can be taken any period. During their assigned time, the student will be expected to take part in the initiation and placement of a work site. They will be evaluated quarterly by their site coordinator. Some of the expectation will be as follows... Job Shadowing Students will choose a career and contract with an employer/sponsor a set number of hours to shadow them at their job. Employers will evaluate student effort and students will have assignments to complete about the chosen career. A final presentation will be given in front of the board at the end of the semester. This is to be an unpaid job position. ECO Directed Study After completing Child Development and one semester in the Tots and Teens lab, a student may enroll to be placed in a classroom setting as a teachers assistant. Bulletin boards and lesson planning will be required. Teaching assignments will be up to the individual and teacher sponsor to decide. Service Learning Once a student has completed Peer Leadership, they will be geared for situations that require interpersonal skills. This course offers the opportunity to put these "helping skills" into action. Placements will be based on student interest as well as community needs.
