Students are currently being introduced to Lincoln-Douglas Debate and have been given their resolution for this six weeks.  Resolved:  Public health concerns justify compulsory immunizations.  Students will be given a packet on 10-24 giving the specifics of what they will learn and do for this unit.  This will include writing an affirmative and negative case on this topic and a template has been provided in the packet.  They will explore how to analyze a specific topic and the research necessary to be successful.  All of these case will be turned in prior to the Thanksgiving holidays and each student will debate their case, in class, between the Thanksgiving holiday and the Christmas holiday.  We will be doing drills in class to teach students how to refute an argument, analyzing topics, learning how to flow a round, and some major philosophy concepts heard in debate rounds.  Students will see a great deal of history overlap by discussing the role of government and its duties along with rights issues.
