Welcome class of 2013!

August 19th please meet in the Boler Center (Mahoney Court) during your scheduled time. This will be orientation to the PE Curriculum and on Thursday, August 20 students will be assigned their PE locker.

Please purchase your uniform and lock during book day. Students must have a school issued lock!! 

August 21-26 Fitness Week. Students will test in five areas:
Pacer
Flexibility
Curl-ups
push-ups
grip

Students will be tested three times during the semester. The first test serves as a guide for the the next two. Students need to improve their scores each time. Students will be given numerous activities in the fitness center to improve their scores.

Students will need the Strenght Training Anatomy Book for Thursday (August 27) 10 point assignment.

September 1-11 students will be participating in softball. They will be learning the rules of the game and will be working on batting stance, grip of the bat, fielding, catching the ball properly, and pitching.

Students will have a quiz on weight training on Wednesday (Sept 9)
Students will have a quiz on friday (Sept 11) on Softball.

September 15-25 students will be participating in soccer. The first couple of days will be used to go over skills such as passing, trapping and shooting. The remaining days will be used for game play.

Students will be learning new exercises to be used in the fitness center. Students will have a quiz on chapter 2 (Shoulders) next wednesday(Sept 23).

Students will have a quiz next friday(Sept 25) on soccer.

September 28 - October 9 students will be participating in the Flag Football Unit. During this time students will also work in the Fitness Center learning new lifting techniques.

During the first day of flag football, students will learn the proper technique of holding and throwing the football. They will also learn the proper technique of catching the football. Students will be given teams and time time to go over plays.

Studetns will start play on Friday(Oct. 2). They will have a quiz Thursday(Oct 8).

October 13-October 23 students will participate in volleyball. Students will learn and practice different skills. They will learn and review the bump, set and spike. Students will be divided into teams for match play. Studetns will have a quiz at the end of the unit (October 23).

Students will also continue to work through the Strength Training Anatomy Book. They will have a quiz on the back muscles and exercises Monday (October 19).

October 23 - 29 students will be doing the Physical Fitness Tests. Students were shown the rubric of each test for their age and gender. The posting is on our window of our office.

Basketball Quiz for both classes will be Friday (November 13). The Basketball Unit will end on Friday and will start Badminton On Tuesday (November 17). Students will learn serving techniques and strategies of playing badminton. Students will pick their own partners and will play King of the Court.

Badminton Quiz will be on Friday (December 4)

December 7-11 Students will participate in Flickerball. Rules and regulations will be covered the first day. Teams will be made during the first day also.
December 14-18 Students will complete the final week of fitness testing.
