This week we are studying weather. Here is a fun home activity that you may want to try.
My Grandma's Thunder Cake
Cream together, one at a time:
1 c. shortening 1 c. cold water
1 3/4 c. sugar 1/3 c. pureed tomatoes
1 teaspoon vanilla Sift together
3 eggs, separated 2 1/2 c. cake flour
(Blend yolks in, Beat whites 1/2 c. dry cocoa
until they are stiff, then fold in.) 1 1/2 teaspoons baking
soda
1 teaspoon salt.
Mix dry misture into creamy mixture.
Bake in two greased and floured 8 1/2 inch round pans at 350 degrees for 35 - 40 minutes. Frost with chocolate butter frosting. Top with strawberries.
