COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS

It’s a SNAP: Healthy Schools, Healthy People
  • Good community service project for HST kids. They can get the entire school community involved in hand hygiene.
  • Multiple subject areas and activities are included.

  • Glo-Germ
  • My high school students used products from this site for their "Germ Buster" community service project.
  • Site has lesson plans and activities high school students can use when teaching young children about hand washing.

  • The Scrub Club
  • Another great community service activity for HST high school students, which will raise awareness about proper handwashing.
  • Very cute site, you guys-- includes songs, “Scrub Club” cards, and interactive games.

  • Save the Antibiotic
  • Includes an “Antibiotic Resistance” activity that can be used by high school students as a community service projects for 3rd – 5th graders.
  • Also has educational materials developed for 6th and 8th graders that teaches them the difference between treatments for bacterial and viral infections.

  • Online Service Project: Free Rice
  • This is a non-profit website run by the United Nations World Food Program.
  • FreeRice has two goals: 1. Provide education to everyone for free; 2. Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.
  • My students loved this activity.
