This website is maintained in an effort to help students plan ahead and to let parents know what we are doing. [Now comes the disclaimer--- :)] When the assignments and "goings on" are posted, they are based on past experience (26 years of it) as to how fast we will move. However, sometimes students learn something very quickly or struggle with it. In addition, opportunities (such as speakers, field trips, etc.) may appear. I move the students along as quickly or slowly as it takes them to learn the material. So - use this as a guide but DO NOT use it as an absolute. I may change due dates, either earlier or later, depending upon the students. Students should be paying attention in class to due dates and those dates given in school are the ones the students are held to.
Monday, Oct. 22: Holiday. Notebook grade sheet and chapter 2 test should have been signed by now if necessary. Spelling quiz should have been signed and returned by now.
Tuesday, Oct. 23: Check section 1.1. Do the activity on page 16 on classification. HOMEWORK: Assign 1.2 for Wed. Assign, parts of an experiment quiz for Friday. Title, purpose, hypothesis (hypotheses), materials, methods, results, conclusions. Students must know what those parts are.
Wednesday, Oct. 24: Discuss the scientific methods and the parts of an experiment. Discuss the types of variables; controlled, manipulated (independent), and responding (dependent.) Start checking 1.2 HOMEWORK: Assign, parts of an experiment quiz for Friday. Title, purpose, hypothesis (hypotheses), materials, methods, results, conclusions. Students must know what those parts are. Assign 1.3 for Friday.
Thursday, Oct 25: Complete checking 1.2. Start lab experiment. Assign, parts of an experiment quiz for Friday. Title, purpose, hypothesis (hypotheses), materials, methods, results, conclusions. Students must know what those parts are. Assign 1.3 for Friday.
Friday, Oct. 26: Parts of an experiment quiz. Check 1.3. HOMEWORK: Assign 1.4 for Tuesday, Oct: 30.
HOMEWORK: CHAPTER REVIEW FOR CHAPTER 1 IS DUE NOV. 2nd. Assign chapter 1 review for Friday, 11/2. Multiple choice (turn into a sentence) 1 - 8. True or False. Copy the sentence if it is true. Change the underline word or words to make the sentence true if it is false. Concept Mastery. 1 & 5 in complete sentences. Critical thinking - number 1 has 10 answers.
