We are soon to begin the busy month of February. There are lots of holidays and events that will be taking place. February is Black History month. We also have Valentines Day, George Washington's birthday, Abraham Lincoln's birthday, and George Washington Carver's birthday (he used peanuts in many ways and invented peanut butter). We also have Groundhog's day. Please make sure that your child checks to see if the groundhog sees his shadow or not. I encourage them to watch the news, so they can tell me the next day.
For the next two weeks, we will do a unit on friendship and Valentines Day. Your child will be learning how to be a good friend to everyone. They will also learn the importance of loving and respecting each other and family members. This week we have been busy learning about penguins. Be sure to ask your child what his/her favorite penguin is. They learned about the Emperor, King, Adelie, and Black-footed penguins.
