TI- 83 or 84 calculator 2) Classroom participation - Counts for 5% of your grade • Participate in each day's class. You will receive 1 point for being an active participant in the class. This presupposes you will not be working on material from another class! •You will receive 1 point if you have all your materials (that is, textbook, notebook, homework, pencil, red pen and calculator.) • 5 minute passing periods are used to get to class, sharpen pencils, and be in your seat with your homework out when the bell rings. If you do not follow the above policy, you are considered tardy. Be on time and be ready. • A learning atmosphere will be maintained by all present. 3) Homework - Counts for 20% of your grade • Each assignment must be labeled clearly at the top of the page with the date assigned, page number, and problem numbers. A pencil must be used. • State the original problem and then show work, not just answers. Work should be from top to bottom, not side to side. Each homework problem must be attempted. • Homework is graded through homework quizzes, random checks and occasional collections. • Check all answers in the back of the book. Mark all answers correct or incorrect. If a problem is wrong try it again. • Be neat. Mistakes should be erased or crossed out, not written over. • For your own benefit, as an aid to prepare for tests, we suggest you use some marking system to indicate to yourself those problems with which you had trouble. • Keep up with daily assignments to prevent getting lost, behind, frustrated, depressed and/or anxious. 4) Evaluation Grades - Count for 70% of your grade • Quizzes: Both announced and unannounced. • Tests: Day of test will be announced at least 2 days in advance. NOTE: Quarter Average: 75% tests and quizzes, 20% homework, 5% participation & agenda Semester Grade: a combination of two quarters (40% each) and a semester exam (20%) 5) Attendance/absence The more you're here, the more you learn. But most of us get sick sooner or later so please follow these guidelines. • You are responsible for any work missed while absent. Be sure to keep up with the homework. • Tests are announced in advance. If you are absent the day before a test or on the day of a test, you will be required to take the test the day you return. • If absence is long term, either you or your parents should contact me at school to get your assignments. • If absence is due to a retreat, you must let me know ahead of time so that we can discuss when the work is due. • If absence is due to a field trip or vacation, you must let me know ahead of time.
