Dupo Jr. High School 7th grade science teacher
Hi, My name is Mrs. Kautzer and I would like to welcome you to my webpage.  Each week I will post our daily assignments and activities on my web site.  I will also have links to vocabulary and science related games that you may play to improve your science knowledge.  I will also include a link to our school calendar to show when we are off school, including early out days.  The School Notes link will give you access to the notes we took in class.

Parents, It is my goal to work with your child to succeed at the highest level possible.  I also hope to create a fun science experience for your child.  My expectations for your child are high.  RESPECT in the classroom is my top priority.  By respecting classmates and myself the flow of the classroom enables all students to learn in an engaging environment.  Students are expected to stay current with all homework assignments or lunch detentions may be given or lab time lost.  I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE WORK!!!!!  Student homework is given 1-2 times a week in my class.  Students will also be responsible for in class assignments -  students must use their time in class wisely!!  Your child will have one independent project to complete each quarter.  The projects will be worked on outside of class.

I also update my homework assignments each day on the parent portal.

                 RESPECT FOR PROPERTY!
                 RESPECT FOR YOURSELF!
                 COOPERATION!!!!!!!!!!
                 HONESTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                 ABSOLUTELY NO HORSEPLAY DURING LABS!
IF YOU ARE ASSIGNED WORK TURN IT IN!!!
                 ORGANIZATION, ORGANIZATION ORGANIZATION!!

Please note I just realized that I can send a notification when I update my school notes.  If you would like to be notified of the updates to the current class notes - please click on school notes at the end of my webpage it will connect you to school notes.  You can then select notify me and by filling out your email address you will get them most current updates on my class notes - this may come in handy.

PLEASE NOTE THIS WEBPAGE IS UPDATED WEEKLY AND DEPENDING ON HOW THINGS GO WE MAY BE BEHIND OR AHEAD OF SCHEDULE.  HOWEVER MOST OF THE TIME WE DO FOLLOW PRETTY CLOSELY TO THE WEB PAGE. - PLEASE NOTE ANY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS IN THE AGENDA BOOK ARE THE MOST UP TO DATE, you can also check the parent portal.

Please click on the school notes link below - the latest notes can be found here.  I do not hand out textbooks until 2nd semester - for this reason it is important to help your child keep organized in science so he has all the materials he needs to be successful.  I have attached all copies of vocab words on my website so students may find the definitions.  I highly recommend the students make flash cards for all the words by looking over old notes, quizzes, crossword puzzles or by printing out the notes online.

I will be checking daily for science binders, agendas, and pencils.  Students are also required to do in class activities.

                            UPDATED 12/15/09

Hi everyone!  Since we now have the parent portal that lists homework assignments I am not listing homework on this webpage anymore.  The portal is updated everyday even if we have no homework.

I will still use this webpage to give you a general idea of what we are covering in class and when we have important tests or projects due.  I will also continue to link you to the schoolnotes page where you can find the latest class notes.

Students will still be able to log onto my website to look at vocabulary and play games to help them practice for the test.

Starting tomorrow - Dec 16th the students will be presenting their science fiar projects in the classroom.  These presentations will continue until they are completed.  I hope to be done by Friday the 18th.

We have already started a new unit.  We will be studying ecosystems and biomes.  There are a lot of hands on activities in this unit.  I will continue this unit into the 2nd week of January.  Then we will be studying electricity.

<PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING THE FOLLOWING EVERYDAY TO CLASS - YOUR SCIENCE FOLDER, YOUR AGENDA, AND A PENCIL.  YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO BRING COLORED PENCILS IF YOU HAVE THEM.
