Assignment: Create the following bridges with the WestPoint Bridge Design Program
1. Pratt Through Truss Bridge- less than $200,000
2. Continuous Arch- Pratt- less than $200,000
3. Suspension Bridge- Warren Truss- less than $250,000
7. Cable Stayed Bridge-NO TRUSS- less than $250,000
Make sure to save all your designs to your H-drive.
Final copies of each bridge will be collected when assignment is due.
All teams must submit at least one bridge (to national competition). Points earned depends on bridge's success compared to national average. (see assignment sheet)
Extra Points earned: The top 15 Medfield Bridges submitted to the Local Contest will earn extra credit points on final grade.
All teams will be expected to complete:
1. Vocabulary assignment (each student must complete this).
2. 4 bridges on assignment sheet
3. Teams must submit a bridge to the national contest
4. Final Bridge Quiz: (Check out Vocabulary and Web sites to help prepare)
5. All student teams must construct a bridge out of fettucini. The bridge will be tested for maximum load it can hold. Students must pass in an orthographic representation of their bridge.
