Dear Parents,
Greetings!  I want to express to you how excited I am to be here with your child, and I welcome you to our school. The school year is in full swing now and all  is well at Eastside. The fall has been very busy, yet exciting.Your child is very excited about Christmas and all that this special holiday provides. CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE IS DECEMBER 14TH. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE !  ABC has a "new" playground, new pets, and even a garden. K thru 4 classes are going extremely well. I attribute this to our fine students, faculty and staff. We try to provide an academic atmosphere at Eastside that allows your child to grow in a positive manner. Thank you for your help, and for a most precious treasure, your child. As with any program, there are concerns that must be addressed.  One concern that I have is your child’s safety.
Our faculty and staff are assigned to specific positions throughout the building at the beginning and end of the day.  The most important part of their job is to monitor students and to keep track of how students are delivered or picked up.  To help teachers with this important job I am asking that you, the parent/guardian, use the south parking lot and remain in your car through the student drop-off/ pick- up line. Please do not pull into the parking lot and let your child out because this congests traffic and is a potential safety hazard for your child.  There are no crosswalks or crossing guards located in the parking lot, so because of this we want to keep this area restricted.
Please note that we cannot allow you to drop off your child before 7:40 because teachers are not on duty before that time.  Therefore, there is no one available to supervise students.
Beginning Monday, August 28th, students will not be released from class until 3:10pm. Therefore, you will not be able to pick them up before that time without resulting in a tardy.
Also, I must ask you to refrain from coming into the building before school or at the end of the day.  However, if you need to talk to personnel regarding a concern, you are always welcome to come in. Just understand that with so many children in transition arriving and going home, we must be able to supervise our students effectively.  In addition, this is one way that we limit your child’s contact with unauthorized adults.
Please be assured that we are making every effort to ensure the safety of your child, and we need your help.  I truly believe that by being proactive and establishing a functional routine, we can avoid unnecessary problems.
I want you to know that you are welcome to visit us during lunch or other times of the day, but please help us with arrival and pick up times. If you have an emergency, please know that you can call ahead, and other arrangements can be made.  Thank you for your help and understanding with this matter.
Regards, Ms. Hawkins, Principal
