Understanding and Managing Children’s Behavior
This course equips prospective teachers to manage pre-adolescent and adolescent behavior on the middle school, junior high school and high school levels. The course provides students with knowledge of behavioral, cognitive and affective domains, and develop the skills and insights for proactive and crisis intervention. Students learn to promote personal and social responsibilities for adolescents and examine the nature and needs of adolescents with learning and emotional disabilities. Implications and applications for working with students from diverse multi-cultural backgrounds are discussed, and technology applicable to management issues will be addressed.
