EDEXCEL This site is an English exam board site which makes it sound very boring but it is actually fun and contains superb resources in all 4 skills. You can access it through frenchrevision which has a link below. Just click on Edexcel near the centre of the home page. If you like this try the AQA site too. Link also to be found through frenchrevision. Reading and Listening are split into Foundation and Higher -which have nothing to do with our use of those terms. Foundation cover Standard Grade 6 5 4 and Higher covers 3 2 1 1+ All activities are interactive, more like games and pupils get instant feedback as to how well they have done. As if this weren't enough each test has a glossary which will save looking up the dictionary all the time. You can even print out the glossaries. And that isn't all - there are loads of matching games made up using the vocab and phrases of the tests of any one year accessed by clicking the bottom box of any year's exams. Pupils can keep coming back to these to revise. Some are even more fun in that you can say what speed you want to play at - don't go for "insane" - believe me "OK" is more than fast enough till you get used to it!! Your choices are untimed / timed OK / timed hard / insane Under SPEAKING - you will find role-play cardds but at the bottom is a section labelled Conversation which gives you accesss to about a dozen topics. Under WRITING you will find some excellent reading activities of a type you can make free yourself. (Piece together a story - pupil always gets 3 choices) Feel free to copy the notes below and issue them to your pupils to allow them to get the most out of the site. (Simply select, cut and paste into a new document) EDEXCEL - PUPILS TIPS This site is a fantastic resource but to get the best out of any activity you have to plan - have a look at some of the activities and THEN decide what is the best approach for YOU personally - to get right in there and have a go, then look at the glossary and do some of the games, then maybe have another go OR start by looking at the glossary, practising the phrases a bit THEN having a go at the test. Certainly before you do any of the LISTENINGS you should have a GOOD look at the questions first to work out what you are going to have to do with the mouse, make sure you have the questions as fully on your screen as you can. Failure to do this will make the task more difficult and it won't have ANYTHING TO DO WITH YOUR FRENCH!! First time round I would just LISTEN. Remember you are in control and you can listen as often as you like!
