Welcome to English 8r, 8g, and 8e!

Agenda for the Week:

This week (May 21-25), students will continue to read and study Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. 8g students will be reading chapters 19-25 (skipping chapters 21 and 23), while 8r and 8e students will be reading chapters 19-26. Students will have study guide questions to answer while reading the chapters. This is to help students make sense of this challenging narrative and to point them toward particular ideas and events they might otherwise overlook.

On Monday, students will receive their last list of spelling- list #10. Students will be quizzed on these on Friday.

TKAM quiz #3 will be on Friday and will cover chapters 12-22 and vocabulary list #3.

As always when we're reading a novel, students need to be diligent about keeping up with the required chapters. We will likely have several pop DYRT quizzes during this novel. If students are having trouble keeping up with the reading, or are having a tough time understanding the book, they should plan to stay after school with me to get help.

If you're having trouble with the vocabulary and references in the book, check out the link below to learn more Mockingbird words.

Also this week, students will be competing in the Inter Hall Track Meet- this will be on Thursday during the afternoon.

Grades will be updated on Tuesday- check them at the link below by using your student ID # followed by a zero.

All levels of study should have their regular English supplies- a pocket folder, a 3-subject notebook, a highlighter, pen/pencil, and planner- with them every day!

JUST AS A REMINDER, I WILL BE OUT FRIDAY MAY 25TH-FRIDAY JUNE 8TH TO TRAVEL TO CHINA TO PICK UP OUR ADOPTED DAUGHTER. I SHOULD BE BACK IN TIME TO REVIEW FOR THE FINAL EXAM- I WILL BE BACK IN SCHOOL JUNE 11TH.
