E-learning and E-teaching English:
This course will take place in the new Multimedia Language Laboratory. There we will be looking at the computer as a tool for language learning. We will explore the internet, in particular the WWW, and discuss the various possibilities of exploiting these global resources for the ELT classroom. In addition, the tools needed to create materials for the classroom will be introduced and also actively used.
Requirements: basic computer skills, email access, regular attendance, active participation, careful completion of the weekly web-based assignments, contributions to a task-based project.

Unfortunately I had to undergo a tooth operation yesterday afternoon and have not yet recovered. So let's make the best out of it. Let's do some real e-learning English.
Please go to the WIN room in the ZFIM, log in and go to
Mastering Internet (see useful links) and do the Internet Tutorial 'Mastering Internet'. Read the introduction and go to the bottom of the page to the pop-up window. Click on the little arrow and select lesson No1 'World Wide Web'.Work with a partner, read the text and do the tasks.
Finally you may want to test your net IQ (see useful links).
If there is time left you could have a look at the links mentioned in Ogbue' book. At the Cornelsen page go to Forum Schule and then click on 'Internet und Studium' and then links.In chapter 1 you will find all the links mentioned on the pages you were supposed to read for today.
I am going to post an assignment for next week shortly.

Start making Journal entries - this learning log helps you keep track of the progress you are making. Write entries once a week and save them onto disk (or in your scrap book).

Please send me your worksheet with the gap-filling exercise (in particular those of you who haven't done so) :as well as a glossary for the words + an additional exercise. This could be a wordsearch (just send me the link of the quia game you created) or an activity from the Goethe-Institut website (jumbled paragraphs etc.) or both. Or you could try out these cloze-tests by means of Word as described on my homepage: http://www.ahlmann-online.de/etools/index.html .
You will find some instructions for handling quia at a class web page I created for a workshop at the fmf congress. In case you are stuck feel free to get in contact with me.
Have fun creating these worksheets and insert pictures etc. if you like.

Those of you who haven't sent me any assignment please do so by Wednesday at noon. If possible sent me a gap filling exercise using dropdown menues.
Those of you who have already created class web pages please send me the URL.I would like to create a list with all the URLs so that we can easily access the different web pages and do the activites you created.

Send me the URL of your class web page with at least one quia activity and your favourite Christmas link. Create another quia activity either for your newspaper article or a Christmas game or for your project.
Finish the Bildwörterbuch.

Ausgehend von einer Lektion im Lehrbuch (English G/C4) erstellte und gestaltete eine zehnte Klasse im Rahmen des Englischunterrichts ein Programm über "Native Americans" mit vielen Übungen und Links. Die Schüler bekamen verschiedene Aufgabenbereiche zugewiesen, z.B. bestimmte Textteile oder Vokabeln betreffend. Nach einer relativ selbständigen Erarbeitungsphase in der Gruppe setzten die Schüler mit Hilfe des Autorenprogramms Hot Potatoes ihre Ergebnisse in Übungen um. Diese Übungen wurden der gesamten Klasse zur Verfügung gestellt, ein weiteres Ziel war die Publikation im Internet.
So in etwa stelle ich mir Ihre Arbeit im Projekt vor. Bitte bedenken Sie, daß für die Bände 3 und 4 und 5 von English G 2000 für die meisten units schon fix und fertige webunits vorliegen, siehe link dazu unten bei Cornelsen, dort unter Englisch, web units.
Außerdem auch noch die Adresse des Englischen Seminars der Uni Dresden von einer Übung, in der die Studierenden Übungen für die Zwischenprüfung selbst konzipiert haben Lassen Sie sich von den Beispielen inspirieren....
Ich habe eine neue 'class web page' eingerichtet für unsere kleine Projektphase mit all den verschiedenen Themen. Nutzen Sie diese Woche dazu, Material zu sichten und ein Konzept(was?, wer macht was?, bis wann?, wie? etc.) für Ihr Projekt zu entwickeln, das dann spätestens nächste Woche in Angriff genommen werden sollte. Die erste Präsentation der Projekte ist für den 31. Januar geplant.
