Welcome to the Room 4 Library Page!

Here you will find information about your biography project along with links to the school and county libraries, various search engines, research tips, activities to learn a little more about information technology and library systems, and eventually maybe even webquests.

Attached here is the document with the information you need to write your biography

These next set of attachments will give you examples of how to write your note cards. Ask Mr. Sakols, Ms. Osborne, or Mara if you have any questions or do not understand something about the note-taking. Remember it is easier to take notes and write where you found them at the time you see it than spend a day re-reading your book because you forgot where you found the information!

Mr. Sakols has the MLA format for the 6th graders. Please ask him for the sheet. Soon it will be posted here as well. In the meantime, for a preview, check out "examples of citations" made by Mara's classmate Jane Reichenbach. It's an easy form to follow when writing your own bibliography. Follow this hyperlink:

The El Portal Library is open Monday & Thursday 10:00 to 6:30 with a break from 3:30 to 4:30. Don't forget Mondays are library days. Bring your books to return or renew. I will try to open the library more often, perhaps for a whole week in March. I will keep you posted.

There are activities below as well as more links than just the ones described above. Go ahead and try them out. There are a lot of cool sites out there that will make being a researcher more fun.
