AP English Language: Summer Assignment: Read Angela's Ashes, Into The Wild, and The Things They Carried.
While you are reading each memoir, keep a journal that will be checked on the first day of school. The journal should include: the plot of each story; the themes that the author tries to convey; the conflicts, including the protagonist and antagonist; a critical analysis of the effectiveness of the mood in the telling of each story.
***You may keep a daily journal of what you are reading, or complete the assignment as a whole at the conclusion of each book. Depth and quality of thought is very important. You may type the work, or handwrite in a journal. If you handwrite, the writing must be very legible.
