For Wednesday, Nov 18th I have added a link for your reading summary and response: It is "What Women Want Now" by Nancy Gibbs. It is somewhat relevant to the gender topic and is one essay in a series of essays on the gender topic. The link is on the Nicenet links. Meet in L 113 ( computer room ) to write a first draft of your cause and effect essay. It is on the topic: "What causes the gender differences between males and females," or " How do gender differences affect behavior?". You choose one or the other, not both. We will go over some of the technicalities of writing this type of essay in class before you write. You will hand in your draft and save a copy for yourself to polish and turn in the Monday after Thanksgiving. All research paper first drafts should be in and handed back for revision. The final version of your paper needs to come in by next Wednesday. Please remember to include an outline, your summaries, a first draft and a final draft and the printouts of your sources or the photocopies of individual pages if you used books or print sources. All these elements get points. ( see the nicenet page for how the points are distributed.) Any paper that comes in with just a final draft can earn a maximum of 40%. which means it does not pass. The paper itself needs to have a separate title page, paginated pages throughout except for the title page, and a separate page for the Works Cited list, which must be in MLA style. If you use the Citation Machine, use that style throughout your paper. All sources in the Works Cited must match the sources in your paper. Do not include anything in the Works Cited list that does not appear in the paper. The paper needs to be around six to seven pages long not including the title page nad Works Cited page. MONDAY: There will also be a quiz on the Chapter: Gender Roles This is for the 1R portion of the class. Make sure you are up to date on your vocabulary journal. Don't forget to write down your online work in your log.
