Bienvenidos a Español IV Let me answer some general questions you may have first. 1. Will we have assignments over the summer? Yes, you will have weekly assignments that will be emailed to me. Assignments and due dates are in this packet. Please note that if they are not turned in on time they will be considered incomplete (hence a 0). It would be unfortunate to begin the year with a negative balance. 2. How much time will I need to dedicate to this class during the summer? Each week you will have one assignment. Most assignments should take about 1 hour others may take you a bit longer. Aside from the weekly assignments you should practice speaking (yes actual “real” conversation), did I mention, in SPANISH. 3. How will I communicate with you? My E-Mail address is hong@sfcs.net This will be your main line of communication. 4. What can I do to better prepare myself for this class? Make sure you know the “Palabras Profesionales”. Review all your verb tenses, por vs. para, ser vs. estar, saber and concer and phrases of volition. If you don’t have a Verb dictionary with all conjugations you may want to find one (not required) but they are handy. 5. What will the course itself be like? I expect you to want to work. Essentially I give you a syllabus- you do the work. During the school year it will be about 5 hours a week. You will be required to write (proficiently), read (for comprehension) and speak (extemporaneously). Did I mention the added caveat that all of the above mentioned task will be done in Spanish.
