Butterfly Life Cycle Song by Mrs. Esposito

Metamorphosis of a Butterfly by Mrs. Esposito
(Sung to the Tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat)

Metamorphosis
A big change happens
Butterflies lay eggs underneath leaves.
Then the shell opens up.

Out comes the larva
Then it eats its shell
A very hungry caterpillar
Feasts on lots of leaves.

It gets much bigger
Bursting through its skin
It eats so much, it molts several times.
Then the rest begins.

It hangs from a twig
And makes a cover
Pupa stage begins undercover
Called a chrysalis.

Change is going on
In the chrysalis
New body parts are forming inside
Making butterflies.

It will pump its wings
Making them drier.
The adult butterfly can fly now.
It flutters away.
