Helen Keller: Helen was a disabled American woman. She struggled to overcome her disabilities and worked to help others who were blind and deaf.

Helen Keller was born in 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. When she was about 2 years old she got very sick. Her sickness left her blind and deaf from the age of two.

In 1887, she was put under the charge of Anne Sullivan. Helen was a deaf and blind author and lecturer who spoke for the handicapped. She died in 1968.

Susan B. Anthony: Susan B. Anthony was a brave American who led the struggle for women to have equal rights. She believed that women should have the same rights as men, including the right to vote.
Susan B. Anthony was born on February 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts. She learned to read at 3 years old. In 1839, her family became very poor and Susan became a teacher to help her family. Susan B. Anthony thought everyone was equal.
Susan was arrested when she tried to vote. On March 13, 1906, Susan B. Anthony died in Rochester, New York.
About fourteen years later, the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified.
Susan was already dead, but her dream had finally come true. The United States Constitution gave women the right to vote. Susan B. Anthony was honored by having her face on a silver coin worth one dollar.
