Evaluation
École St. Pius X

Hello and welcome to my evaluation page. On this page you will find information on how you will be evaluated this year. Most of this information is interchangeable from subject to subject. You will also find rubrics that you can download and print for your own use. I will be using these rubrics to evaluate your work in grade 4.

Assessment method

Question and answer assignments
  • True or false questions.
  • Short answer questions.
  • Multiple choice items
  • Fill in the blanks
  • Listing events in chronological order
  • Matching vocabulary to the correct definition.
  • Reading comprehension questions.
  • Weekly tasks.
  • Grammatical exercises.

These types of items, whether they are on a test or an assignment are generally assigned a point value then students are scored on each individual question.  Their scores depend on the accuracy, detail, and perceptiveness of the answer given.

Projects
  • Posters
  • Drawing maps
  • Making/building items
  • Research projects
  • Oral presentations
  • Writing projects
  • Comic strips
  • Arts and crafts projects
  • Demonstrations
These types of assignments are usually scored using a rubric.  A rubric is an assessment tool that shows all the criteria of the assignment.  Students are always given the rubric.  I generally go through the rubric with them so that they understand how they will be evaluated.

Tests These include such things as:
  • End of unit tests
  • Performance stations
  • Quizzes
  • Dictation
  • Spelling tests
  • Verb tests
These item are usually scored, marked or corrected by the teacher.  Sometimes students exchange books and the class will correct and mark an assignment together.  I supervise the marking and grading of such things as dictation, and spelling tests.
