      6th grade Social Studies Expectations
               Mrs. Evers, Navy Team

Attendance:  Regular attendance to class is important!  Part of attending class is being prepared with your materials and any assignments that are due.

Absences:  Students who are absent must look on the class calendar (agenda, class calendar or www.quia.com/pages/navyteam.html) for missed assignments.  YOU are responsible for making sure all work is made up and handed in.  You have one day per day absent to make up work according to school policy.

Late Work:  Late work will be accepted for 1/2 credit (50%) up until the last week of the quarter.  No late work will be accepted the last week of the quarter so that Mrs. Evers can get grades submitted on time!

Assignments:  Need to be done in pencil, blue or black ink or typed.

Teacher - Student – Parent Communication:  Students and parents are encouraged to contact me with concerns or questions regarding Social Studies.  I am often able to respond via email throughout the school day as well as after school hours.  I return phone messages before and after school.

Calendar /Agenda book:  Agenda books are provided to each student at the beginning of the school year by Cross.  I also provide students with a monthly calendar specifically for Social Studies with class activities, assignments and due dates.  Students STILL need to record all homework assignments, tests, important dates, etc in their agendas.  I will be checking agendas as part of your R/S grade.

Current Events:  You will need to turn in TWO (2) per quarter.  The blue forms are always available in the classroom along with newspaper articles.

Class webpage:  This is the MOST valuable resource for parents and students.  I update my webpage regularly with a weekly calendar that includes class activities, homework, test dates and project instructions.  I post unit review games before most tests.  These games are GREAT tools for studying.  Social Studies weekly grade updates are accessible through the website if you and your parents choose to submit an Internet grade password to the Navy team.
