WRITING ASSESSMENT RUBRIC
The student will randomly be assigned two of the following topics and must write two paragraphs with at least 10 sentences each. This assessment will be taken during the last week of the 6th grading term. It will be worth 100 points and will be part of the 6-weeks grade.
# Possible topics for the essays.
Criteria for grade.Four (4) points will be deducted for each gramatical error.
- Sentences must make sense and must address the assigned topic.
1. Geneder agreement
2. Number agreement.
3. Correct verb tense.
4. Subject verb agreement.
5. Word order.
6. Spelling.
# Possible topics for the essays.
1. Write 10 sentences describing your family members. Use 5 sentences for male relatives, and 5 sentences for female relatives. Be sure to use at least 4 different adjectives and at least 1 different chore that each person has to do.
2. Write a paragraph of 10 sentences talking about what you are going to do this weekend. Be sure to 1. use the ir + a + inf. construction, 2. name three things that you and your friends/family are going to do, 3. name two things you like to do and one thing you don’t like to do, 4. name some things that you have to do.
3. You are a real estate agent. Write a desciption of a furnished home you are selling. Describe several rooms including furniture and its location in the room. Include plenty of details. Describe all the amenities of the home.
4. Write a letter (at least 10 sentences apart from the salutation and closing farewell) to a cousin from South America, who is interested in visiting you next year. Describe your school and your day to day activities. Include classes and extra curricular activities.
5. Your family is planning a trip to Mexico. Write suggestions for what you want to do in Mexico. Include activities you will do with your parents and activities you will do with a friend who travels with you. Be creative; write 10 sentences to convince your friend to go.
6. Compare and contrast yourself and your best friend. How are you alike and how are you different (physically and personality). What are some activities you both like and some that you do not share an interest in. Compare likes and dislikes of school subjects, leisure activities, and work.
