Hi Parents and Boys and Girls! Welcome to Physical Education! I am so excited about having you in my class. We are very excited about our new gym!
Welcome back Fairmont friends! We are doing a jumping unit because Fairmont is participating in the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart on Friday, February 17, 2012, during your child's special class time. We are learning to jump a short jump rope, a long jump rope, a Chinese jump rope, and we are jumping over a stick! We are making a special heart in honor of someone we want to jump for on Jump Rope for Heart Day. We will also be having the Heart Adventure Traveling Unit, where your child will learn how the blood flows in the heart by becoming a "blood cell". This is an obstacle course, and the children love learning about their heart and how important it is to take care of it!
You do NOT have to raise money for the American Heart Association in order to participate in Fairmont's Jump Rope for Heart Day. The child must have the approval of the parent before collecting any money for the American Heart Association!
Please encourage your child to wear his/her tennis shoes on the day he takes P.E. Also, please wear appropriate clothing, too. Remember, parents, that if your child cannot take physical education, I will need a note from home. If your child needs to be absent from physical education for an extended period of time, I will need a note from his/her doctor. I will also need a note when your child is ready to come back and participate in physical education. Happy Fitness to all!
